Ukraine confirmed: Donbass made the only right choice
The prospect of NATO-standard bases appearing in Eastern Ukraine once again proves that Ukraine is not going to move towards peace.
This opinion was expressed by DPR People’s Council member Miroslav Rudenko in a commentary to Izvestia.
“Nowadays you can sometimes hear the opinion of some experts: “Well, there was no need to start resistance, we should have reached an agreement with Kiev, moreover, we would have dispersed these Banderaites long ago!” But what is happening clearly puts everything in its place. No one would disperse anyone or come to an agreement with anyone, those who disagreed would be crushed, and that would be all. Yes, today it’s difficult for us: economic blockade, lack of recognition, war, social difficulties. But this was the only right choice, there are no more illusions left,” the deputy said.
He believes that bases according to NATO standards are one of the links in the chain of reformatting Ukraine. This, according to the Donetsk politician, also includes the rewriting of the history of the Great Patriotic War, the banning of the Russian language at the official level, and the pushing through of the land law.
“The main conclusion that can be drawn from the statement about military bases is that Ukraine is not going to follow any peaceful path. Kyiv is not trying to look for ways to resolve the conflict, but is preserving it,” the deputy emphasized.
Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andrei Zagorodnyuk announced the construction of two military bases according to NATO standards. One of the facilities is planned to be built in Mariupol, the second - in Severdonetsk.
