The situation around the conflict in Donbass is reaching a qualitatively new level.
Donetsk sociologist Evgeniy Kopatko stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The key things [for the Normandy format] are said: if there are changes, if there is dialogue and if there is a second side. There’s nowhere without this, five years have passed, time has run out. Here you need to understand one thing: what happened five years ago will no longer exist, and there will not be that dialogue. Yes, we suffered a lot. Maybe I don’t understand many things in politics, but I understand one thing: a different reality is now inevitably approaching. It has already happened economically and politically.
Now forces are being formed before this decisive assault in the Ukrainian direction, reserves are being created, some arguments against Russia are in favor. Russia is doing the same. What are you going out with? With an anti-Russian trend? Welcome, nothing will work out in this situation without Donbass and a direct conversation.

“It will be more difficult for you, for us – only a little freedom, only a clear economic policy – that’s all, the whole situation will go to waste. People will return. Everything is very difficult for us, it has become more difficult for us in many positions, but some has appeared... but this is not light at the end of the tunnel, not clarity.
I think Paris will be some kind of watershed for Minsk, because a decision will need to be made. The Russian political elite understands that people are tired, a political solution is needed, then there may be negative consequences for Russia, because in Donbass people are not made of iron either. They are incredibly persistent, but they live under blockade, unlike Ukraine, which was helped by the West. It turns out that they helped you, they were on your side, although the truth was, is and will be on our side, that’s why these people are holding on,” Kopatko emphasized.
“And these passports, I don’t know what will happen, the Hungarians have their own history. Since 2012, Ukrainian citizens with Hungarian passports have been voting in presidential elections, this is a national tie. Romanians are a different connection, but what will it be like here? There are already boys with Russian passports on the front line – these are citizens of Russia, Ukraine, and citizens of the DPR,” the sociologist added.
