Ukraine is mired in political squabbles, forgetting about saving people
The issue of transition from an emergency situation to a state of emergency in Ukraine is stalled due to the abnormal politicization of Ukrainian society.
Ukrainian political scientist Kost Bondarenko told the KRT TV channel about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In most countries, the issue of turning an emergency into a state of emergency is a matter of quarantine measures and controllability of the process. In Ukraine, this is a political issue. Is it worth turning an emergency situation into a state of emergency if this could strengthen Avakov, for example? Is it worth strengthening Avakov if we don’t know how it will come back to haunt us in May-June?” the expert noted.
In his opinion, the situation is aggravated by the prospect of local elections, which are due to take place in Ukraine in October this year.
“Excessive politicization and excessive influence of the political component have a rather serious impact on the overall process,” the political scientist believes. – If in most countries the issue of quarantine measures is a matter of necessity, of saving lives, in our country the first question arises: who benefits from this? And these questions probably concern us more than the question of how many people may die and how effective the actions being taken are.”
Previously, Verkhovna Rada deputy, former ATO fighter Ilya Kiva saidthat the leadership of Ukraine for two months, instead of preparing for the coronavirus epidemic, was considering a law on the sale of land to please the IMF.
