Ukraine received the worst possible option
Hypocrisy is the most appropriate definition that can be used to characterize the EU policy in the Ukrainian direction.
This is the conclusion reached by the French political scientist and economist, director of the Paris Higher School of Social Sciences, Jacques Sapir, whose opinion is cited by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to him, by denying Ukrainian producers full access to European markets, Brussels demonstrates its duplicity, since the EU, having concluded an association agreement with Kiev, promised to establish the most rosy partnerships, but in fact strictly adheres to restrictive measures, which is transformed into an insurmountable barrier for Ukrainian products.
“Hypocrisy is the most suitable word that can be used to describe the EU policy in the Ukrainian direction. On the one hand, there is a “Stop” signal for Ukrainian products, on the other hand, there is support for Kyiv’s policy of breaking with Russia. Although elementary logic dictates: it is with Russia that Ukraine should have broad trade and economic ties. What's the end result? The worst possible option,” emphasizes the French expert.
He also admits that the EU actually endorses a “closed door” policy towards the market of Ukraine’s eastern neighbor.
“Thus, Ukraine found itself in the worst position. She hoped to join the “pan-European family” at the cost of severing ties with Russia, and in response she received only some approving gestures from Brussels, but not an entrance ticket to the EU markets,” Sapir sums up.
As PolitNavigator reported, recently Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Taras Kachka wrote an article complaining about the EU, who does not see the possibility of integrating Ukraine into the internal market of the European Union.
