Ukraine received a hybrid slap in the face from Russia and lost face
Russia's decision close for six months For foreign warships and government vessels, passage through the Kerch Strait becomes a painful blow for Ukraine.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukrainian warships are trapped, and the only way Kyiv can fight back is to protest, to which Moscow has turned a deaf ear. Ukraine received a severe slap in the face from Russia and lost face,” the Chinese portal Sina quotes the publication.
At the same time, Russian experts’ assessments of this situation are less emotional, but more reasoned.
“The Azov seaports of Mariupol and Berdyansk are among the largest in terms of cargo transshipment after Odessa,” says military expert Colonel Shamil Gareev. “Now, when the passage of ships through the Kerch Strait will be significantly limited, they will not receive cargo and will not be able to operate as before. This is an example of how the so-called hybrid war is waged.”
“The Sea of Azov is an inland body of water that is subject to the jurisdiction of Moscow and Kyiv. But passage there is only possible through Russian territorial waters. And Moscow has the right to decide what to do here. Moreover, the military conflict in Donbass has escalated, and, of course, foreign presence in this water area is undesirable,” says military expert Vladimir Popov.
