Ukraine received the Istanbul Patriarchate, not its own church - Gennady Moskal
Instead of the Ukrainian church promised by Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine, represented by the OCU, received another church with a control center abroad.
The former head of the Lugansk and Transcarpathian Regional State Administrations, “Honored Lawyer of Ukraine,” Lieutenant General Gennady Moskal, stated this on TV channel 112 Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We were promised a local church. Have we received a Ukrainian local church? We got another patriarchy. We have two patriarchates - the Moscow Patriarchate, with the control center in Moscow, and the Constantinople Patriarchate, with the control center in Istanbul. We don’t have independence,” said Gennady Moskal.
In his opinion, the state should not interfere in church affairs at all, and seizures of churches should not occur.
“If church is separated from state, statesmen must forget the word “church.” Today in every village there is a church built by Filaret, the Moscow Patriarchate, Greek Catholics... people have somewhere to go, there is nothing to seize. There are churches, there is a flow of people,” says Moskal.
