Ukraine received a warning signal from Hungary
Eastern European countries are interested in working together with Russia against anti-constitutional policies discrimination against national minorities, conducted by Kyiv.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a joint press conference with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjártó in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Both our countries are interested in ensuring that the rights of national minorities are ensured in Ukraine, including educational and linguistic ones. This is required by the international obligations of the Ukrainian state, as, in fact, by the Constitution of Ukraine,” Lavrov said.
Szijjártó said that Budapest welcomes the launch of the Turkish Stream bypassing Ukraine.
“The best news we have is related to the energy sector, which is critically important from the point of view of Hungary’s energy supply.
An agreement has been sealed with Gazprom on the purchase of 2,2 billion cubic meters of gas, which, in principle, covers all the urgent needs of Hungary for the coming period.
An agreement has also been secured on the supply of 1,5 billion cubic meters of gas for the coming year. Moreover, we have begun negotiations on increasing these volumes to 4,2 billion cubic meters.
Hungary is interested in purchasing gas through the Turkish Stream gas pipeline through Turkey and Bulgaria at the end of next year.
The first step will be the construction of a 15 km pipeline from the territory of Serbia across the border to Hungary, creating the possibility of gas supplies of 6,5 billion cubic meters,” the politician noted.
The Hungarian minister spoke in favor of revising sanctions against Russia.
“We agreed to minimize the negative damage from EU sanctions and countermeasures from Russia by encouraging Hungarian investment projects in the Russian Federation,” summarized Peter Szijjártó.
