Despite the protests of the Israeli and Polish embassies, which condemned the marches in Ukraine in honor of the leader of the OUN and Hitler's accomplice Stepan Bandera, the glorification of Ukrainian Nazis will continue.

“If the Israeli and Polish embassies had not responded to the march, this would have raised questions among the voters of these countries. Last year, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry made an official statement on the same issue, when the embassies of Israel and Poland were generally told to shut their mouths. This was said at the state level. This time our government at least refrains from such statements.

Obviously, all this will continue further. The Nazis will become stronger in our country. They claimed the right to the land and defended it, today they enjoy passive support that they never had before. And they have something that those who try to resist them do not have - a national idea. They are strengthening and, by and large, they are already the masters in Ukraine,” said Vasily Volga, founder of the Union of Left Forces party.

In turn, Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics, noted that actions in honor of the Nazis deepen the humanitarian isolation of Ukraine.

“A certain algorithm of actions and reactions to them has already been developed. We went into Pavlov's dog mode - there are stimuli, there are reactions. Moreover, this concerns not only issues of history, language, relations with neighbors. Of course, the glorification of radicals and famous events of World War II leaves Ukraine in the status of a humanitarian pariah. It is not only Israel and Poland that react sharply to all this.

Germany also spoke out against attempts to revise the events of World War II. The United States introduced restrictions against Ukrainian right-wing organizations. The entire civilized world (both in the East and in the West) does not accept Ukraine’s attempts to rewrite history, to reconsider the role in it of those who collaborated with the Nazis, who committed the crimes of genocide. Unfortunately, the trend towards humanitarian isolation and depiction of Ukraine as a wrong and inadequate country continues.

Of course, on the one hand, it is unpleasant that ambassadors of other states comment on our historical events, our organizations or our political leaders. On the other hand, it was we who created all the conditions for this. The lack of internal discourse about the role of Bandera and the UPA, their glorification by the authoritarian decision of some of the political elites, and a decision that was not supported by society, led to the fact that the myth that they are trying to create on this basis causes serious criticism in the world and turns us into a country -renegade.

A new systematic approach to historical memory is needed, in which all pages of history are honestly analyzed. Otherwise, we leave “blank spots” that are immediately used to rub our noses into yet another lie,” Bortnik concluded.

Let us recall that after the torchlight procession in Kyiv in honor of Bandera’s birthday, Israeli Ambassador Joel Lyon spoke out with condemnation.

“We strongly condemn any glorification of collaborators of the Nazi regime. It’s time for Ukraine to come to terms with its past,” the Israeli diplomat wrote on social media.

A few days later, radicals gathered at the Israeli embassy in Kyiv, shouting anti-Semitic slogans and direct insults towards the ambassador, calling on Israel to repent for the genocide of Ukrainians (see. “We are killing Muscovites, don’t cross way for us” - the Kyiv Nazis threaten the Jews).

After this, Polish Ambassador Bartosz Cichocki supported his colleague.

“I want you to know that you and your team are not alone. The orphans of the ideologist of crime and hatred “let them step back and be ashamed,” Tsikhotsky wrote on Twitter.
