Ukraine now occupies one of the five places in terms of the number of deaths due to air pollution, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak, the press service of the department reports.
An important concept for low-carbon development has been developed over the past few years, he said. As the minister noted, this document integrates many areas that are designed to change the future of the whole world.
“We are one of the top five priorities worldwide. Ukraine now occupies one of the five places in terms of the number of deaths due to air pollution,” the minister said.
“In our topic area, Ukraine is already in the top ten. And in the future, maybe even a three. Only in 2016 the world signed a climate agreement, 2 years have already passed. Everything has changed so much. Last December, at a summit hosted by the French President, big developments took place. The world is changing. Ukraine very quickly signed a climate agreement. Ukraine was the third to ratify this deal. At the last meeting of the parties in Bonn, the effectiveness of the climate policies of the countries of the world was assessed, Ukraine took 17th place in 2017. And last year we were more efficient than the entire European Union. Next, we adopted a new concept of climate policy,” he added.
