Former deputy and current adviser to the Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kava reported this on his Facebook page.
“With EU funds, Lithuania has significantly updated its fleet of diesel locomotives and electric trains in recent years. This made it possible to decommission some of the ER9M electric trains and 2M62 diesel locomotives,” he wrote.
“The Ukrainian railways are experiencing an acute shortage of AC electric trains. This is especially noticeable on the Lviv and Southern Railways, which leads to the need to use more expensive diesel trains in suburban traffic on electrified lines.
UZ will be able to use the resulting electric trains in suburban traffic in Poltava, Rivne, Volyn, Ternopil, Lviv and Kharkov regions,” explained Kiva.
