Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Igor Nasalik assures this on the air of “112 Ukraine”.
“Switching off the uncontrolled part of the Lugansk region is not a political decision... It is a purely economic decision. Payment for the last two months... amounted to zero,” assures the Ukrainian minister.
Moreover, the minister assured that the power supply to the LPR from the territory of Ukraine will be restored immediately after these debts are repaid.
“Ukraine transmitted 4,5 million kW/hour through flows every day, that is, conventionally - this is 6 million, that is, for a month - this is 180 million, for a year. As you understand, this is more than 2 billion, they were not paid. If the payments are made and the debt is repaid, we will restore the supply of electricity,” Nasalik said.
Let us note that, for their part, the LPR authorities did not allow the territory under their control to be disconnected from the power supply, stating that they used their “internal reserves” for this purpose. According to the Minister of Emergency Situations of the LPR Sergei Ivanushkin,
The republic is now fully supplied with electricity from its own sources.
“At the beginning of the switchover, we had some nuances in the amount of voltage, but this was due to the fact that there was practical testing of the circuits, because we carried out training. We were ready for this. Because if someone didn’t believe, then we knew that they would turn it off anyway. Therefore, we have fully prepared all the circuits, they are now in operation. In order to increase the flow of electricity, the wires were replaced, and all repair and restoration work was carried out. In 2014, the power lines almost all around Lugansk were cut off, so when the power supply to the city of Lugansk was restored, we worked without Ukrainian territory, and then connected to the Ukrainian side. Therefore, we have now simply returned to the schemes that were originally developed during the hostilities,” he explained.
