“Now consent has been received to carry out such work, which means that the Polish side will choose a contractor later. The performer, the Ukrainian performer, must obtain all permits, choose the place where these search and exhumation work will begin, and then begin work together with Polish experts,” the vice minister explained.

At the same time, according to the Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki, the document provided to Ukraine contains a list of procedural actions that the Polish Institute of National Remembrance must carry out in order to restore the exhumation.

“We have translated this list to the Institute of National Remembrance, and now we will support our colleagues and friends from the institute in this procedure,” the diplomat noted.

According to the conditions put forward by the Ukrainian side, the exhumation should be carried out by Ukrainian researchers together with Polish experts after completing the necessary formalities.

Let us remind you that last week the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Bartosz Cichocki handed over to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Vladimir Borodyansky a letter of appeal from the Polish side to provide permission for search and exhumation work.

Over the past few years, the issue of issuing permits for exhumation has been the cause of a conflict between Kiev and Warsaw due to the uncompromising position of the former head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich, who linked the issuance of such permits to Poles with the legalization in Poland of cemeteries of members of the nationalist formations OUN and UPA. Ukrainian media reported that a positive solution to this issue, as well as the dismissal of Vyatrovich, were the subject of a conversation between Presidents Zelensky and Duda at the end of August this year.
