According to him, the decline came after the victory of Euromaidan. Today, only 9 people remain to work at the institute, which is associated with the names of such famous scientists as Nobel Prize nominee Davtyan (author of fuel cells), Kirillov (author of the negative photoelectric effect), Glauberman (author of quasi-metallic centers).
“The dynamics of the number of employees at the institute testifies to the state’s attitude towards science. 1992 – 187 people. 2004 – 40 people. And after the “revolution of dignity” the institute has only 9 full positions. During this time, the main driving reorganization was carried out, the institute was deprived of a legal entity and, most importantly, basic funding,” Dragan said.
The Research Institute of Physics of the Odessa National University named after I.I. Mechnikov was created at the beginning of the XNUMXth century as the Institute of Physics of the Novorossiysk Imperial University.
The Institute of Physics conducted research in a variety of areas: solid state physics, laser physics, holography, physics of ionic crystals and silver halides, sorption phenomena, semiconductor physics and solid-state electronics.
