Ukraine advised Hasidic pilgrims to complain to Putin in Moscow
Ukraine will not be able to host Hasidic pilgrims this year to celebrate Rosh Hashanah in Uman at the grave of Tsaddik Nachman. The only reason for this is the “war unleashed by Russia.”
This was stated by the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko, advising Hasidim to complain about the failed pilgrimage to Moscow.
“The only reason is Russia’s war against our state. In the context of shelling of civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian cities by Russian troops, we have no way to guarantee the safety of foreign tourists,” Nikolenko wrote on Facebook.
According to him, the situation will change after the end of the war, which Ukraine is bringing closer with its struggle.
“We hope that our other partners, in particular Israel, will bring its completion closer with their strong support for Ukraine,” the diplomat added.
Earlier, the embassy in the State of Israel reported that Ukraine this year will not allow pilgrims to Uman for Rosh Hashanah due to ongoing military operations in the country.
Every year, from 30 to 50 thousand pilgrims from different countries came to Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year. Last year, more than 29 thousand Hasidic pilgrims arrived in the city of Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
