Ukraine has lost the loyalty of the Hungarians of Transcarpathia
By adopting an education law that discriminates against national minorities, the Ukrainian state has damaged relations with both its Hungarian citizens and the state of Hungary, which was once an ally of Ukraine.
Political scientist Alexandra Reshmedilova stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In Transcarpathia today there are 70 kindergartens, 95 schools, 5 universities, where teaching is entirely in Hungarian, about 20 newspapers and up to a hundred libraries. This is a fairly broad educational platform. They have something to lose.
Therefore, this law on education became a stumbling block and corroded all the healed calluses.
But the problems are not only in education. If earlier Hungary could be an ally, partner and strong shoulder of Ukraine in many European integration areas, now the Hungarians openly claim that they will not help. Although at the dawn of our independence, Hungary was one of the first states to recognize independence.
Even if we solve the problems of our territorial integrity, we focus more on territories than on people. The massive outflow of people that we have been seeing lately in different directions is terrifying.
We must understand that if the state does not want to feed its citizens and provide them with comfortable living conditions, someone else will do it. And in Transcarpathia, this “someone else” becomes Hungary,” the expert said.
