The publication notes that in 1989, the Ukrainian SSR produced 12 times more coal per capita than France, and 3 times more steel than France. In addition, the republic produced airplanes, space rockets and ships; industrial giants were located on its territory, and next to them were sources of energy resources - 4 nuclear power plants, 15 hydroelectric power stations, giant coal deposits.

"Live and be happy. Not so. Over the 28 years of its independence, Ukraine has managed to drive itself naturally into the global bunk, where countries sit that depend only on “harvest prospects” and “the mercy of their neighbors.” First, the giants died - Yuzhmash, Antonov, Azovmash, Nikolaev Shipbuilding, Kremenchug Steel and Auto Assembly, Lvovselmash, Dneprovagonmash... It would take a long time to list everything. The space industry, aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, machine tool manufacturing and automobile manufacturing have completely disappeared. Five industries!” the publication writes.

In addition, independent Ukraine has suffered and continues to suffer colossal demographic losses.

“People began to flee the country - to Russia, Europe, the USA and Canada. As a result, the population decreased from 52 million under the USSR to the official 42 (Ukraine continues to count people along with Crimea and Donbass, although it no longer has them, and with guest workers who went abroad), but in reality about 28 - 30 million remained! A leapfrog of “color revolutions”, or rather coups d’etat, began. This is an ideal time for businessmen reshaping the Soviet legacy; Ukraine is in the ranking of the most corrupt states in the world - between Mali and Gabon - in 120th place (out of 180), the newspaper added.

As PolitNavigator reported, Ukraine last step left to the poorest countries in the world.
