Ukraine complained to Europeans about the mass resettlement of Russians from the mainland to Crimea
Since the beginning of the “annexation of Crimea,” the Russian Federation has resettled more than 140 thousand Russian citizens from the mainland to the peninsula, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova reported this on Facebook.
Thus, Denisova made a presentation at the panel “Occupied Crimea: the situation from the ground,” which took place in Berlin on the 5th anniversary of the events in Crimea in 2014.
“The Russian Federation is replacing the population in the occupied territory of Crimea with its citizens, because after the occupation, some Ukrainian citizens moved to live in mainland Ukraine. More than 140 thousand Russian citizens were resettled during the occupation for various reasons,” the ombudsman wrote.
Denisova also expressed her belief that thanks to international pressure and increased sanctions, Ukraine will be able to regain lost territories.
