Ukraine is reaping the bitter fruits of becoming an anti-Russian outpost
The allocation of Western loans to Ukraine may be blocked by Poland - it is interested in cheap Ukrainian labor, especially in the context of obtaining a visa-free regime for Polish citizens in the United States.
Political scientist Semyon Uralov writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert notes that the new Ukrainian government can no longer sell its role as an “anti-Russian outpost” in exchange for loans.
“Ukraine is reaping the fruits of turning the republic into an anti-Russian outpost in exchange for loans. They are not willing to pay Zelensky for rhetoric like Poroshenko, but there are no other ideas and are not expected. The biggest beneficiary is Warsaw. The policy of the main ally of the United States in the region is bearing fruit - visa-free travel has been obtained for Polish citizens, and the militarization of the region continues.
A default in Ukraine is extremely beneficial for Warsaw. Because this will make it possible to reduce the cost of Ukrainian labor migration, which has become the driver of Polish economic growth in recent years. Also, the sale of land promised by Zelensky in conditions of default will allow Polish capital to profitably participate in the last major sale of Ukraine. It is possible that it is the Poles who are blocking loans to Kyiv through European and American lines,” writes Uralov.
