Donbass, Minsk process

The blockade of Donbass at the official level contradicts the Minsk Agreements and leads to their breakdown. Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the NewsOne TV channel.

According to him, only the Minsk Agreements keep the West from lifting sanctions against Russia and, by withdrawing from them, Ukraine will deprive itself of support.

The Minsk Agreements are our strategy for Donbass. There is no other way, we cannot liberate it by military means and we cannot recognize it as occupied either, because this does not comply with the Minsk Agreements. By recognizing these territories as occupied, we abdicate our responsibility, but the Minsk Agreements imply something different. And under the Minsk Agreements, sanctions against Russia are in effect. If we refuse agreements, the West will lift sanctions on Russia. The ball is tangled,” said Karasev.
