In Ukraine, censorship and restrictions on freedom of speech and views are flourishing on a full scale, everything is heading towards the dictatorship of the authorities. Human rights activist Vladimir Chemeris stated this on air on the UkrLife channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to him, people in the country are being massively detained and tried for showing dissent.
“Such trends already exist in our society. There is control over the expression of citizens' views. First of all, this is a restriction of freedom of speech and views. We know many facts when journalists are condemned simply for expressing their point of view. Like, for example, Ruslan Kotsaba, who expressed his views on the war,” said the human rights activist.
He also named a number of journalists who are being persecuted for political reasons.
“Now Vasilets and Timonin have received nine years each, the trial of Zhytomyr journalist Vasily Muravitsky, who is accused of high treason, is underway. His treason consisted only in the fact that he published his point of view. Kherson activist Eduard Kovalenko has already been sentenced to five years. Moreover, he is accused precisely for the content of his speech at the rally. This is the first time in Ukraine that a person has been convicted for nothing other than the content of his speech at a rally. These people did not carry out any violent actions... We have many cases where people were also condemned simply for their posts on social networks,” Chemeris emphasized.
