Ukraine is turning into a raw material periphery that no one needs

Ukraine needs to think about how not to turn into a useless raw materials appendage, and not worry about whether they will give it a billion dollars in credit or not.

Oleg Ustenko, executive director of the International Blazer Foundation, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“We need to start thinking about what will happen in 10-20 years. We have outdated nuclear power. To add several nuclear power plant units, we need billions. There is an almost complete absence of Ukrainian companies in foreign markets as investors. Companies come to us, and our companies are going to sell something to Europeans? Ukraine, as a player in the world, should get some place. In 20 years, I would like to see Ukraine not as a periphery – resource-rich, backward, which is of no interest to anyone except the IMF, but I would like to see it as a country that is a player. But for this we need to do something now. You need to have a vision, you need to go towards it,” the expert noted.
