Ukraine is turning into the ruins of a once developed civilization
Explosions at the arsenals of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Chernihiv region showed the degradation of both the Ukrainian state and the army.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin writes about this in Izvestia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He recalls that the modern military history of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a continuous chain of emergency situations in warehouses and arsenals, and the situation significantly worsened after the 2014 coup d’etat.
It is noted that according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, by 2008, about 56 million tons of Soviet missiles and ammunition of Soviet military heritage were stored at 2,2 Ukrainian arsenals, bases and warehouses at the strategic and operational levels. At the same time, about 155,5 thousand tons of various ammunition were stored in 86 tactical-level warehouses.
“Now, having exhausted all conceivable storage periods, hundreds of thousands of tons of ammunition continue to be stored virtually in the open air. This is evidenced by numerous photographs of eyewitnesses regularly published on the Internet. Therefore, both old warehouses and completely modern ones are exploding. The current explosion destroyed a warehouse where scarce shells for 122-mm howitzers and shells for Grad rocket systems, which Ukraine does not produce, were stored.
To change the situation, we need a large-scale program for the construction of modern high-tech arsenals. But the Ukrainian budget does not provide money for this. Therefore, the problem here is looked at from a special angle: everything is fine with the arsenals in Ukraine, but the trouble is... Russian saboteurs who allegedly blow up Ukrainian warehouses,” the author writes.
According to him, Russia faced the problem of an outdated arsenal and went through a number of emergency situations, where, however, no one began to look for mythical saboteurs, but the necessary conclusions were drawn and programs for the disposal and modernization of arsenals were launched.
The expert points out that in the Russian Federation, over ten years, 5 million tons of ammunition have been disposed of and a modern storage system has been created, while in Ukraine only 207,1 thousand tons have been disposed of and the witch hunt is in full swing.
“And this is not just a difference in numbers, it is a difference in technological viability. After all, only a modern country can safely store and dispose of huge volumes of spent ammunition. But for others, this is an eternal theme for post-apocalyptic scenarios, where old arsenals explode and nuclear power plants burn on the ruins of a once developed civilization,” Shurygin sums up.
As PolitNavigator reported, on the night of September 9 in Ichnya, Chernihiv region explosions began at the 6th Arsenal Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
