Ukraine turned Russia’s tactical defeat into Moscow’s victory – Kiev diplomat
Even friends of Ukraine are shocked by the wild behavior of the Ukrainian delegation in PACE, whose members attacked a Russian journalist and snatched the microphone from her.
The former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Voloshin writes about this in his blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He examined the scandalous incident that took place in PACE point by point.
"1. Top-class propagandist Skabeeva was not in the Assembly to troll the Ukrainian delegation. They were waiting for Victory in the form of a decision to open the way to lifting sanctions from the Russian Federation. They even brought in one of their handy political scientists and brought in a Russian-speaking commentator from among the Bundestag deputies.
2. By 12 it became clear that there would be no Victory. There's really nothing to show. We will have to grumble about a deaf and understanding Europe.
3. And here our clowns came to the rescue. Here, point by point:
3.1. Alexey Goncharenko with his performance wearing gloves from a chemical protection suit caused irritation even among the Assembly chairperson. The Bulgarian deputy even called on me to explain to Alexey that with such antics they only strengthen Moscow’s argument “we are arrogant, but serious, and they are funny and scandalous.”
3.2. The head of the delegation is Arev, a former journalist, hiding behind the shabby door of our delegation’s room (all the little rooms there are orphans) and in response to a request to give his position (!) shouting in English “we will not allow the room of the Ukrainian delegation to be annexed, as you annexed Crimea, call the security !”, looked miserable.
3.3. A competent lawyer and polyglot Georgy Logvinsky, trying to speak with the propagandist in English and after 10 minutes of persistent Skabeeva following him, switched to Russian, looked ridiculous. By the way, Logvinsky then began to respond to her accusations with accusations against Russia, which in fact won: in the final episode of “60 Minutes” almost nothing was taken from his remarks. The machine is afraid of arguments on the air, in particular about the GRU failure in Salisbury.
3.4. Borislav Bereza, who said an aggressive slogan into the camera and defiantly threw someone else's microphone on the floor, looked like an example of an angry nationalist who had lost control of himself. Where have the usual skills of malicious trolling with a winning smile gone?
3.5. The icing on the cake: the entire patriotic part of the Ukrainian delegation, who, like gopniks in the gateway, surrounded the girl (even a propagandist a thousand times) and with their ridiculous actions fell into all the caricatured stereotypes about the Maidanists: in any incomprehensible situation, sing the anthem and shout “Glory to Ukraine.”
4. Result: our delegation helped turn Russia’s tactical defeat into a media victory. Even Ukraine’s sane friends in Russia reacted to this video with disgust. And this Channel is also watched in Crimea and the occupied part of Donbass, and thanks to this circus they have only strengthened their preconceptions about our politicians. It was not even an imitation of Maidan - it was a parody of it.
5. All this happened within the walls of a respected European institution, where they love constructiveness and tranquility. They are already tired of Ukraine. How tired they are of a friend who is always complaining, scandalous and demanding help. The general mood: go with the Russians to the park opposite the Palais D'Europe and have a shit there for the amusement of the public,” writes Voloshin.
