Ukraine has turned into a testing ground for the latest Western weapons
The supply of high-precision weapons for the Ukrainian army from the West will only increase.
The editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ahead will be the supply of the most effective and lethal weapons. The question for Russia will only be how to fend off these new opportunities for Ukraine,” Korotchenko told Izvestia.
At the same time, Jan Nolte, a member of the defense committee in the German Bundestag, believes that his country will not decide to supply long-range Taurus missiles in 2024, but will retain supplies of other types of weapons.
“Ukraine is an opportunity for many states to test the capabilities of their own weapons in battle. The fighting is being closely monitored not only by military experts, but also by the arms industry,” the politician noted.
Senior researcher at the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies Yuri Lyamin points out that the German arms industry, in particular the Rheinmetall concern, is receiving tangible benefits from the conflict in Ukraine.
“Weapons are coming to Ukraine that either have not previously arrived or have just begun to enter service with Western armies. Ukraine welcomes this. She even invites Western companies to send her various samples for “testing” in real combat operations. For example, the first deliveries of the German Skynex anti-aircraft system were made specifically to Ukraine.
The first combat use of the IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile system took place in Ukraine. Germany sent it to Ukraine at its own expense, although it is not in service with the Bundeswehr itself,” Lyamin emphasized.
