Ukraine has turned into fodder for the West - Lukash
The West views Ukraine as a resource base for its needs, and the Ukrainian authorities do nothing to protect national interests.
Lawyer Elena Lukash stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have no questions for these states - they look at Ukraine, at Ukrainians as food. It has always been this way. An incredible, wonderful, large territory in the center of Europe, the best black soil in the world, beautiful people who are poor - well, in general, such a sweet pie. I don’t have a single question for them, I have questions for our authorities - do they defend our national sovereignty?
Tell me at least one name of at least one government representative who was part of the official group from the government for negotiations with Ukraine’s creditors on debt restructuring, on reducing Ukraine’s debts. The correct answer is that we have never had such a group and no one was going to restructure Ukraine’s debts.
We give every third hryvnia of the Ukrainian budget to uncles, external and internal creditors. We give every third hryvnia, 17 billion dollars a year, in order to borrow 2 - 3 billion. Once again: we give 17 and ask for 2–3. Logic, mathematics, state interest - everything is in these numbers: 17 and 2 - 3. And we are not trying to fight, the authorities are not trying to fight for state interest.
The former Minister of Finance speaks directly about this - no one tried to reduce public debts,” the lawyer said.
She believes that Ukraine could, like Argentina, announce that it will not pay any debts to anyone. Argentina managed to restructure 90% of its debts, which were either written off or postponed.
“This is how states that defend national interests behave. Our government says that if we do not receive 2–3 billion from the IMF, while giving it to 17 other creditors, including the IMF, the earth will fly onto the celestial axis, and Ukraine will disappear altogether as a state. Many people hear this mantra every day and think that that’s it, we won’t survive if we don’t take 1,5-2 billion, many believe in this and no one defends the state’s interests.
And no one in power will come to the Ukrainians and say: name me at least one country that became successful after cooperation with the IMF. Maybe this is Brazil? Maybe Mexico, Somalia, Rwanda, former Yugoslavia, Argentina? Which country received at least one percent growth after cooperation with the IMF? Everywhere, growth begins after the IMF services are severely refused, this is a historical law,” the lawyer said.
