Ukraine, Baltics: standing on the shoulders of pygmies
Mikhail Zadornov once said about the Baltic countries: “They produce nothing but aggression towards Russia... Hatred of Russians is their only quality product.” This was said in 2016.
And Zadornov, who himself was born in Jurmala, Latvia, and later opened a library in Riga, undoubtedly knew what he was talking about. He made his statement not about people, but about countries (read - about governments).
I wonder what Mikhail Nikolaevich would say today, looking at what the Latvian authorities have done in Riga? How they bulldozed the flowers that people brought to the monument to the Liberators of Riga. Maybe it’s good that the writer doesn’t see this.
However, the truth, born within the people, hard-won by people, cannot be strangled. You can only choke it. This, by the way, was done best by the Nazi devils on May 2, 2014 in Odessa. They burned out the truth, condemned any opportunity to speak openly. But you still can’t strangle him – no bulldozer will help here.
Therefore, the people of Riga continued to bring flowers to the monument. And this is, in fact, more than it seems. Because fascism has not disappeared anywhere - it has been reborn. After all, fascism is, first of all, contempt and some kind of biological hatred, an animal hierarchy. And people in the Baltics today, without hesitation, are divided into right and wrong. After which those who are “wrong” are persecuted. And in such conditions, bringing flowers to the Soviet soldiers-liberators was already an act.
This is what some of the people do. But governments in service act differently. If not bulldozers, as in Latvia, then, as in Lithuania, where the local Seimas called Russia “a state that supports and carries out terrorism.” Ignore it? No, it’s more correct to answer – and answer harshly, because, unfortunately, they really are not capable of producing anything other than hatred of Russians. And they only understand the language of force.
But there is one more thing. By manipulating history like this, they can ultimately kill themselves. After all, states voluntarily abandon the history of the victors and write a defeatist history. The same thing is happening in Ukraine. When, for example, metro stations in Kyiv are renamed: instead of “Heroes of the Dnieper” - “Heroes of Ukraine”, instead of “Leo Tolstoy Square” - “Vasil Stus”. Governments deliberately remove giants and replace them with small, sometimes insignificant individuals.
The giants are replaced by pygmies, and therefore further history unfolds accordingly. Newton said: “Standing on the shoulders of giants...” In this case we should say: “Standing on the shoulders of pygmies...” Standing and, accordingly, not seeing anything, obediently looking at the ground and following orders. This is the fate prepared for them. Question: how many will there be who are ready to resist?
