About it says the organization's report, “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.
As reported in the document, in 2014, the state-owned company Ukrinmash signed a contract with the UAE to supply thousands of machine guns, mortars, hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers and millions of ammunition to South Sudan.
“The participation of a Ukrainian state company in the supply of weapons to South Sudan contradicts the Arms Trade Treaty, to which Ukraine is a signatory,” the report says.
Amnesty International emphasizes that Ukraine must completely stop supplying weapons and providing any logistical assistance to South Sudan, including equipment, maintenance and training.
Also, as noted, Ukraine should ratify the International Arms Trade Treaty as soon as possible.
In turn, representatives of the Ukrainian company Ukrinmash deny that they supplied weapons to South Sudan.
“There were no deliveries to South Sudan,” said Margarita Kuznetsova, head of the investment analysis department of Ukrinmash, in a comment to LIGA.net.
According to her, in 2014 the company entered into two agreements with the UAE and South Sudan.
“But no deliveries were made under both contracts,” Kuznetsova assures.
