Ukraine drove the Bayraktar closer to the border with Crimea
Ukraine conducted exercises “to repel amphibious assault” in the Kherson region, bordering Crimea.
“The main task for our military personnel was to search, detect and destroy the vanguard of the amphibious assault of a mock enemy. In particular, advanced aviation gunners demonstrated their skills in providing target designation to helicopters to destroy the enemy and determining landing sites directly from the “battlefield,” reported the commander of the Joint Forces Operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Sergei Naev.
Almost simultaneously, in the neighboring Nikolaev region, at the Shyroky Lan training ground, maneuvers of the Bayraktar TB2 attack drone, purchased from Turkey, which was transferred from its deployment site in the Khmelnitsky region, took place, the Ukrainian Military Portal reported.
Russian military expert, captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev told PolitNavigator that the Ukrainian military practiced the experience gained from the Karabakh war in their exercises. In this case, Russia needs to keep their actions under control and be “in combat tension,” since the exercises are being held near the borders with Crimea.
“The 44-day Second Karabakh War provided not only the participants in the conflict, but also all parties showing interest, extensive experience for analysis, study and, accordingly, the development of effective measures to counter those types of weapons that were used on a massive scale for the first time.
In this case, speaking about the Bayraktars, the Ukrainians have been cooperating with Turkey for a long time in terms of mastering this technology and purchasing these drones. Naturally, the Ukrainian side also followed very closely what was happening in Karabakh. Moreover, information has emerged that the combat formations of the Azerbaijani army included Ukrainian military personnel who dealt with issues related to control, electronic warfare, and so on. Therefore, it is quite possible that they also participated in solving problems associated with the use of Bayraktars. Now Ukraine is developing this experience and acquired knowledge for educational purposes.
We definitely must be prepared to resist. I think our side has been carefully monitoring what is happening in Karabakh, and the relevant information has been accumulated, analyzed and appropriate conclusions drawn. Events of this kind held near our borders should, as my commander said, evoke a feeling of combat tension. We must be very careful,” Gorbachev said.
