Ukraine adopted a “shameful separation formula” with Donbass and Crimea
The situation with the conflict in Donbass has already protracted so much that today even a confederation with Ukraine looks impossible.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev announced this on ITON-TV, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Ermolaev emphasized that Ukraine lost the battle for sentiment both in Crimea and Donbass.
“At some point, a conviction was formed that Ukraine could succeed, become a successful European country, when it was not burdened by this incomprehensible, difficult, externally dependent and under the influence of the ideology of its aggressive neighbor, Donbass. And it is even more unclear what to do with Crimea... because Ukraine has lost the mood, lost the expectations with its inaction, the greed of the elites, and indifference to Crimea. Both in relation to Crimea and Donbass, such inactivity and closed eyes played a fatal role,” the expert is convinced.
He also noted that in Ukraine the idea began to be heard more and more often that they needed to cope with the economic crisis themselves, demonstrate success, after which Crimea and Donbass would allegedly want to return.
“I think this is a shameful formula for breaking up. So many years of war make a simple mechanical return impossible. And even more so they complicate the political process regarding new formulas. In my opinion, as of now, even the confederal structure of Ukraine is already a dream,” Ermolaev said.
