Ukraine recognized the Russian status of Crimea
The signing by Ukraine of an agreement on the distribution of fishing quotas in the Sea of Azov means the actual recognition of Crimea as Russian.
The ex-representative of the “President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” international lawyer Boris Babin, stated this on the 1+1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Babin assures that this could cause Ukraine to have problems with its “Western partners.”
“The Russians take this protocol at any international meeting and say: “Guys, read, it says here - “Protocol of a joint commission.” Do you see who signed? Now look, is there the word Crimea, is there the word war, is there the word aggression? No? Well, you see that our friends agree that everything is in order in Azov?” And you know, the Western world has such a strange trait for us - they believe legal documents,” Babin said.
In turn, diplomat and head of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Yaremenko emphasizes that by signing the document, Ukraine renounced its claims to the ships nationalized in 2014.
“These are ships that were stolen from Ukraine because they stupidly pirated the Russian flag, and now these are Russian ships, which the State Fisheries Agency of Ukraine agrees with. This means that the State Fisheries Agency recognizes the annexation of Crimea, agrees with this and cooperates with the Russian authorities,” Yaremenko concludes.
