According to her, in 2015 the incidence rate was 70,5 people per 100 thousand people, but in reality the number of patients per 100 thousand people was 90 people.
“The number of patients who, in addition to tuberculosis, also suffer from HIV/AIDS has increased. In 2015, this figure, according to statistics, was 13 people per 100 thousand population. According to calculations by international organizations: 20 per 100 thousand. 75% of those who first fell ill with tuberculosis are representatives of vulnerable segments of the population - unemployed, people without permanent residence, people who have returned from prison. The incidence of drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis is also increasing. Since 2009, the number of such patients has increased from 3 people to 482 in 8440. In 2015, Ukraine was among the five countries with the most frequent cases of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis,” the publication reports the words of a representative of the Ministry of Health.
“This is a threat to neighboring countries in the European region, and such a tense situation with tuberculosis could be an obstacle to European integration. As of today, unfortunately, we remain a reservoir of infection for Europe,” admitted Sivak.
