Ukraine admitted the failure of the program to increase gas production
Although NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and the government have announced plans to increase their own gas production (Program 20/20), gas production in Ukraine is falling.
Yuriy Vitrenko, executive director of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, stated this on air on the skrypin.ua channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If previously the government and Naftogaz had plans to increase production, we now see that production is falling. If you look at the first quarter of this year, we see a drop of several percent in gross gas compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year,” Vitrenko said.
In addition, he says, in 2018, despite the increase in gross gas production, Ukraine reduced the production of commercial gas, and there was less gas that could be used to meet the needs of consumers.
“In 2019 we see a decrease in production. Especially considering the fact that, as Andrey Kobolev said, Naftogaz currently has a shortage of working capital. Accordingly, if the deficit is not covered by something, we see no reason... production will fall,” Vitrenko concluded.
However, he did not specify where all the money that Naftogaz of Ukraine received from increasing gas tariffs went.
