Ukraine called on the United States to enter Novorossiya
The latest US Navy ship, the destroyer Donald Cook, is heading to the Black Sea. Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valery Chaly called on the Americans to make a stop at Odessa, the historical capital of Novorossiya.
“Our old friend, the destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) is entering the Black Sea. Freedom and safety of navigation are the basic principles of international maritime law. And the Ukraine-US strategic partnership is also developing on the seas. American sailors have already visited our ports before. Why don't they visit us in Odessa this time too? Welcome back dear friends!” – Chaly wrote on his blog.
Let us recall that the last time Donald Cook visited the Black Sea was in January 2019 - then the Americans went to Batumi, where they conducted exercises with two Georgian coast guard ships.
“The ship's operations in the Black Sea will strengthen interoperability with NATO allies and partners and demonstrate our collective resolve to secure the Black Sea as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve,” the US Navy said in a statement.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the American construction battalion began building a headquarters in the city of Ochakov, Nikolaev region, from where NATO exercises, which have already become regular in the region, will be coordinated.
“I think the Americans will not have a large base, but, in my opinion, they have become terribly insolent. They are jumping out of their pants to get into Russia’s zone of responsibility,” said the former commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov.
“The fact that they are building a fleet control center, we would also like to consider that this is the first American base on Ukrainian territory, and we expect that this is exactly the case. We, of course, are not members of NATO, we are just partners, but they are already here, and this was done because Crimea was annexed,” Ukrainian propagandist Yanina Sokolovskaya said in turn.
