The publication recalls that since November 25, 2015, Ukraine has been importing gas from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland, since it was not satisfied with the price and the condition of mandatory prepayment in the contract with Gazprom.
At the same time, an independent expert of the National Energy Security Fund, Alexey Grivach, told Izvestia that “Ukraine could save about $100 million in the third quarter by buying gas from Gazprom.”
According to the expert, with the start of the heating season, the price of gas under reverse schemes will only increase. He also cited data from the Ministry of Economic Development of Ukraine, according to which in the third quarter, according to reverse schemes, the country purchased gas at a price of 200 - 211 dollars per thousand cubic meters.
“In the third quarter, they imported 3,3 billion cubic meters of gas for a total of $667 million, having overpaid about $110 million for these supplies. For this money they could have bought an additional 600 million cubic meters of gas from Gazprom,” Grivach said about the losses of the Ukrainian side. .
