Despite election promises, after more than a year of rule, the new Kyiv authorities did not even try to change their humanitarian policy, maintaining the course of forced Ukrainization and Banderization of the country and continuing systemic violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

She said that the department has prepared another report on the human rights situation in Ukraine, which notes that in more than a year since the presidential elections, the policy of the new Ukrainian government has practically not changed, remaining the same as under the previous president, despite election statements and promises.

“Systematic violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms continue in the country. The right to freedom and personal integrity is not respected. There are numerous cases of illegal detention, torture, intimidation, and ill-treatment, aimed, among other things, at forcing detainees to admit guilt.

The Kyiv authorities do not stop persecuting political opponents, independent journalists and media companies, as well as members of public organizations that are undesirable to the authorities. Often, radical nationalist structures operating with the tacit connivance of the authorities participate in “exerting pressure” on dissidents. Against this background, it is not surprising that there is a high level of manifestations of racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, multiple acts of vandalism against religious and religious objects, monuments, and so on,” Zakharova said.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs separately noted that, having taken a course towards the forced Ukrainization of the country, the Kiev authorities are consistently adopting legislative acts that infringe on the rights of national minorities, primarily the Russian-speaking population, and do not comply with the norms of the Constitution and international obligations of Kyiv in the human rights sphere, which is especially evident in the educational sphere. environment.

“The Kyiv authorities are pursuing a deliberate policy of falsifying the history of the Second World War, justifying and glorifying Nazi criminals and their Ukrainian accomplices. The distorted interpretations of historical events of those years that they implanted among the younger generations and the imposition of images of collaborators as “participants in the national liberation movement” and role models are aimed at the long-term cultivation of a nationalist mood among the broad masses of the population.

The restrictions imposed by Kiev on the social and economic rights of internally displaced persons who fled from the zone of armed conflict in the South-East of the country, as well as the civilian population remaining in the Donbass, continue to apply. The Ukrainian authorities continue to restrict their rights, using as justification references to the need to fight “Russian aggression” and local separatism,” Zakharova added.
