Ukraine lost the network war for Ilya Muromets
Ukrainian propagandists, who made edits to the Russian Wikipedia article dedicated to the hero of the Russian epic Ilya Muromets, did not enjoy their virtual victory for long, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

“They changed the article about Ilya Muromets in the Russian version of Wikipedia a dozen and a half times, and finally achieved that in the section about the hero’s birthplace, instead of “the village of Karacharovo near Murom, Vladimir region, Russia,” the entry “the village of Morovsk, Kozeletsky district, Chernigov region” appeared , Ukraine,” the publication notes.
“However, the Ukrainian military could not enjoy the virtual victory for long: today, the administrators of the Russian Wikipedia returned the previous version of the article and demanded that users from Kyiv provide reliable and indisputable historical sources,” the publication continues.
The newspaper emphasizes that this is not the first foray of Ukrainian amateur historians into the Russian version of Wikipedia.
“So, the dispute between Ukrainian and Russian philologists about how to write correctly - “in Ukraine or in Ukraine” began almost from the moment of the creation of Wikipedia. The article about Crimea also survived a siege comparable to the one that punitive battalions once organized in Crimea. Finally, articles about the famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, as well as about Stepan Bandera, the SS Galicia division and some other personalities and events were simply closed for correction by Russian administrators. But Ukrainian users were able to present their understanding of history in their own, sovereign and, most importantly, Ukrainian-language version of Wikipedia, writes RG.
As PolitNavigator reported, Employees of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine actively participated in the “war of edits”.
