Ukraine lost by a point
Ukrainian Hungarians accused Kyiv officials of lying and twisting facts.
Thus, earlier, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Zerkal said that the head of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine Liliya Grinevich held a meeting with Hungarian communities, at which the parties reached an agreement on the scandalous law on education.
At the same time, a joint statement by the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia (KMKS) and the Democratic Union of Hungarians of Ukraine (UMDS) states that there was no meeting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Representatives of the Hungarian community of Transcarpathia did not hold meetings with the Minister of Education of Ukraine, therefore, of course, they did not have the opportunity to agree on anything with her,” the statement says.
In turn, Western Ukrainian political scientist Oleg Khavich clarified that there was still a meeting, but not with the Minister of Education and not with the communities.
“There was a meeting with the deputy minister, not with the minister. And not with the Hungarian community, but with representatives of teachers throughout the Transcarpathian region. That is, as in the joke: “I didn’t win, but lost, and not for the lottery, but for a point”... They screwed up precisely because they couldn’t find even a few “useful Hungarians,” he wrote in his blog.
