Ukraine miscalculated and missed the opportunity to stock up on coal for the winter
The Ukrainian authorities made a fatal mistake in believing that energy prices would go down ahead of the current heating season.
A Russian political scientist, Deputy General Director of the Institute of National Strategy, Alexander Kostin, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He believes that the Ukrainian authorities are now in political zugzwang.
“In the summer they sat and waited for the price of energy resources to go down, but in the fall it went up. On the one hand, this is the incompetence of the authorities and lack of experience. On the other hand, the market assessment is incorrect. Now there is an opportunity to buy from Russia. It's a question of price. The commercial value is high, and the Russian Federation has no reason to reduce it, because the Kiev regime is openly hostile,” the expert told Izvestia.
He believes that for financial reasons at the moment it is more difficult for Kyiv to use “half-gray schemes.”
“In order to make money for the Ukrainian authorities and for their “ideological” reasons, coal from Russia went there through virtual reverse through Poland. They reported that they did not buy Russian or Donbass fuel, although, in fact, it was ours, from the east,” Kostin noted.
In his opinion, the Ukrainian authorities missed “both the time and the opportunity” for procurement.
As PolitNavigator reported, Ukraine is criticallythere is not enough coal or gas
