In 2013, Donbass was predominantly Ukrainian in spirit, to which Ukraine should appeal today.

Vladimir Volya, an expert at the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a briefing in Kyiv.
“After 1991, the revival of Ukrainian culture had a significant spread beyond the borders of independent Ukraine,” says the expert. – We remember the surges in the popularity of Ukrainian music, famous Ukrainian-language groups that toured Russia – “Oyekan Elzy” by Vakaruchuk. And in fact, then we could look at the world and say: “There is Ukraine there - in the Kuban, on the Don, in Western Siberia and in the Far East. That is, to a certain extent, Ukraine, the Ukrainian song dimension has reached a new territorial expansion.”
“Unfortunately, the political events of recent years have thrown these achievements back,” Volya complains. – It’s difficult to say now how many steps, but given the fact that Ukrainians still live on the territory of Russia and even more so on the territory of Donbass, and Donbass in the 13th year was predominantly Ukrainian in spirit, then in fact we just have to resume, will appeal to that lost spirit, trampled by political problems. We need to speak in the language of a simple, soulful song.”
