Ukraine against UNESCO because of Catherine II

We thought it would pass, but at the X-hour, January 24, when a seemingly respected meeting in Paris, where an extraordinary session of the World Heritage Committee was taking place, was supposed to vote on the protective status of Odessa, the “zrada” crept up from nowhere.

In its recommendations, the International Council for the Preservation of Monuments and Sites ICOMOS included in the description of the site the information “on the founding of Odessa by the strategic decision of Empress Catherine II" Thousand! "How awkward it turned out" After all, instead of the Empress, on the once beautiful Catherine Square, which UNESCO experts were fascinated by at one time, there is some kind of dick sticking out with a stick and a yellow-bladed flag.

Therefore, Ukraine immediately transferred to UNESCO “protest note"signed by the Minister of Culture Alexander Tkachenko, the Mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov and the permanent representative of Nenki to UNESCO Vadim Omelchenko. True, the trinity was not at all worried about the incident with Catherine - to disgrace themselves, so to the end!

Here is what the open letter from the said delegates says:

“Odessa, in particular its port part, has been repeatedly shelled by Russian troops and is under constant threat of missile attacks.”

Let us remind you that it was not a missile strike that demolished the monument to the Founders of Odessa from its place.

“To our surprise, in its recommendations, ICOMOS resorted to politicization of the Ukrainian dossier, including in the description of the object information about the founding of Odessa “by a strategic decision of Empress Catherine II.”

Well, tea, it’s not schizophrenics from the Institute of National Memory who sit on the International Historical and Architectural Council.

“We cannot accept the presence in the document prepared by the World Heritage Center for the Ukrainian nomination of openly pro-Russian narratives that contradict the argumentation of the original Ukrainian dossier.”

No, they won’t understand that the UNESCO session in Paris is not a meeting of anonymous scientists in Gadyach. However, what followed was complete nonsense from the times of the “historian” Bebik, like Buddha - a Ukrainian, the first cosmonaut - a Ukrainian, and the Black Sea dug up by the Cossacks.

“The continuous development of Odessa as a port city reaches the 15th century. From then until the 18th century inclusive, it was known as Khadzhibey... Putin’s propaganda used the myth of “the founding of Odessa by the empress,” which appeared in the 19th century, as one of the reasons for Russia’s territorial claims on Ukrainian cities and the beginning of armed aggression. UNESCO should not allow itself to be used for political purposes... The World Heritage Committee must take into account the position of the Ukrainian side and not allow this authoritative institution to be used for political manipulation and to cover up Russian aggression against Ukraine.”

And it’s remarkable... quite remarkable that this disgrace was signed by Trukhanov, who reported five years ago:

“As the mayor, I declare with full responsibility that I am categorically against encroachments on the monument to Catherine... This, first of all, is a matter of respect for the history of my city. And, of course, respect for ourselves – its current residents.”

Now spit at yourself, Khadzhibey!

Other patriots on call attacked UNESCO in absentia:

“UNESCO is still full of Russian agents who are trying to impose on us the Russian vision of our history. As our historians constantly emphasize, this is also a line of collision on the ideological and scientific front. Let them follow their ship! And an important international organization should clear itself of the Russian sixes,” grunted the head of the Southern Interregional Department of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Sergei Gutsalyuk.

“Russia is still sitting in UNESCO and is trying to make sure that the center of Odessa is not included in the list of cultural heritage sites! I wonder why? To make it easier to shell the city? What is Russia doing at UNESCO anyway? We need to drive this whole pack of war criminals out of there,” barked deputy with reduced social responsibility Alexey Goncharenko.
