Ukraine will reactivate old Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems
Ukraine will reactivate old Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems that were retired from 2003 to 2013.
Military expert Sergei Zgurets writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
We are talking about six types of air defense systems of different modifications.
“Six types of anti-aircraft missile systems and systems can return to service at once. These are three short-range air defense systems - the self-propelled Kub (2K12) and Tor (9K330) and the currently transportable S-125. Two medium-range ones - S-300PT (transportable, a close relative of the “standard” self-propelled S-300PS) and a mobile universal anti-missile and anti-aircraft defense system, created to cover maneuverable combat operations of own troops S-300V1 (SA-12 Gladiator).
And, finally, the “long-range” S-200B... “Dvuhsotka” will not allow enemy air command posts, reconnaissance aircraft and all types of jamming aircraft to approach Ukraine. All this together can deprive the enemy of the ability to effectively control an air operation. Well, if only because it’s just scary,” Zgurets said.
