According to the State Statistics Service, during this period, Russian-made fuel was purchased for Ukrainian nuclear power plants for $92 million 757,8 thousand, Swedish fuel for $82 million 731,7 thousand.
Thus, the share of nuclear fuel purchases by Ukraine in January-May 2017 from TVEL (RF) in monetary terms amounted to 52,86%, Westinghouse (Sweden) - 47,14%.
Earlier, President and CEO of Westinghouse Electric Company, Jose Emeterio Gutierrez, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, said that the company would increase nuclear fuel supplies to NNEGC Energoatom to six batches in 2017. It is planned that six loads will be delivered until 2020.
In turn, Energoatom President Yuri Nedashkovsky confirmed the company’s intention to buy six batches of Westinghouse nuclear fuel in 2017.
“We plan to purchase six batches this year. Most likely, some of it will go into reserve, since our repair schedules are constantly shifting, plus one of the units we are purchasing for is being used to extend its service life. Therefore, it may turn out that we purchase more than we load, but this is within one batch,” said the head of NAEC.
