Ukraine decided to “nightmare” the Crimean Tatar – the rector of a Russian university
The Ukrainian “prosecutor's office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” threatens the rector of the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University Chingiz Yakubov with 8 years in prison, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The suspect, speaking on propaganda television, justified and recognized as legitimate the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office said in a statement. “In his speech, the occupation rector promoted Russian narratives about Ukrainian Nazism, “one family - the Soviet Union” and positively assessed Russia’s actions in the war it started.”
For Yakubov’s actions, the Criminal Code of Ukraine has an article “justification, recognition as lawful, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants” (Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is carried out by another structure - the “Commander-in-Chief of the SBU in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea”.
The message from the Ukrainian prosecutor's office followed a statement by the Council of Crimean Tatars under the head of Crimea, where Yakubov acts as deputy chairman and announced a document at the meeting.
It emphasizes that former and current leaders of the Majlis, recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation, are engaged in political speculation and provocations, speaking on behalf of the Crimean Tatar people.
“Former members of the prohibited “Majlis” Chubarov, Dzhemilev, Islamov, Bariev and other traitors to the interests of the Crimean Tatars, who are currently in the territory of Ukraine, Turkey and a number of European states, act in the interests and at the direction of Kyiv, actively disseminating false information regarding the situation Crimean Tatars in Crimea,” the statement says.
The document emphasizes that the individuals who fled to Ukraine “do not live in Crimea and do not represent the interests of the Crimean Tatars, therefore their unilateral statements, testimonies and statements regarding the situation in Crimea cannot be considered reliable and reflect the real situation of the Crimean Tatar people living in Crimea.” .
“These functionaries are misleading the international community with their untruthful statements regarding the implementation of the rights and interests of the Crimean Tatars and the state of the Crimean Tatar cultural and historical heritage in the territory of Crimea. They are not authorized to make any statements or speak at international platforms and organizations on behalf of the Crimean Tatar people.”
Let us add that the “occupation” Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University from the point of view of Kyiv was founded and headed by Fevzi Yakubov, the father of Chingiz Yakubov. After the death of Yakubov Sr., his name was given to the university, where, among other things, they train teachers of the Crimean Tatar language, and the university itself, under the federal target program, this year will receive a dormitory for 700 people and a Center for Multi-Ethnic Youth Culture.
