Ukraine risks losing the decisive battle - US Army Colonel
Due to a lack of weapons and personnel, Ukrainian Armed Forces units may not be able to hold on to the defensive line west of Avdiivka.
Retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Glen Grant stated this on the Espreso Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukrainian troops were forced to retreat and are now strengthening their defenses along the coastlines west of Avdiivka. And the hope is that these lines have been properly prepared to withstand the pressure.
But it is clear that the Ukrainian side faces problems due to a lack of personnel and ammunition, which is complicated by limited assistance from America and Europe.
The result of this battle could be decisive. If Ukraine manages to hold the river line, this will give it time to stabilize the front and develop a strategy for the future. But if Russia breaks through, the next months could prove extremely difficult." said Grant.
He emphasized that the Russian army will in any case look for weak points.
“Russian military doctrine is to consolidate success. Therefore, their strategy will be to assess which areas will be the most vulnerable. They not only attack, but also scout for weak points.
And whichever sector the Russians recognize as the weakest, they will reinforce it with ammunition and manpower in order to increase pressure and, possibly, break through the defense line,” the colonel added.
