However, the nationalist regime in Kyiv, which is banking on a military solution to the conflict, will most likely again find an excuse to reject dialogue.
Political scientist Denis Denisov told PolitNavigator about this.
“We must remember that, being the plenipotentiary representative of the DPR in the trilateral contact group, Pushilin initially positioned himself as a diplomat, distancing himself from the military aspect, which at the moment makes him a figure who has every opportunity to become the main negotiator in the framework of a direct dialogue with Ukraine,” – said the expert.
“Denis Vladimirovich is a systematic and strategically thinking politician with a competent and effective team. Currently, this is the kind of figure that is optimally suited to the post of leader of the DPR,” the political scientist added.
At the same time, Denisov urged not to believe in conspiracy theories about the preparation of a “drain” of Donbass.
“For the last four and a half years, we have constantly heard from especially gifted “experts” statements about the “draining” of the Donbass republics by Russia. And now we can say with 100% confidence that Russia will not leave Donbass; this is the fundamental position of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, it should be noted that under the current government in Kiev, direct negotiations between the Donbass republics and Ukraine are practically impossible, but we must not forget that elections will be held in Ukraine next year and it is quite possible that the new government will take such a step.” , said the political scientist.
