Ukraine itself will not preserve its Polish, Romanian and Hungarian outskirts - Putin
Poland has not abandoned the idea of seizing lands from Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a meeting with historians and representatives of traditional religions of Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We also know about the ideas of some of the political elite in Poland - the creation of a great state “from sea to sea.” Before World War II there was a lot of talk about this. It was a fix idea - from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.
Now we see the embrace of the leaders of Poland and Ukraine, but the idea is alive. And the idea of absorbing Ukraine has not gone away. But almost no one knows this. This is only in archival documents.Just as they certainly - not for sure, but definitely - talk about the idea of returning those territories that were torn away from Poland, it must be said directly about this, by Stalin after the Second World War. Large large regions from Romania and Hungary were torn away. It was no coincidence that I said at Valdai that the only real, genuine guarantor of Ukrainian statehood and sovereignty could be Russia,” Putin said.
At the same time, he emphasized that if Russia voluntarily gave up its territories to Ukraine, then they were taken away from Poland, Romania and Hungary by military means.
“Russia also gave up its historical territories to Ukraine, but voluntarily, with the goal of creating a single, common cultural, humanitarian, historical space. And those territories that I just mentioned above were forcibly torn away from Hungary, Romania and Poland. These are completely different situations. We voluntarily, in order to be together, gave up historical territories along with the population, however, no one asked the population, but they were taken away by force as a result of the war.
Some people, including in Ukraine, should think about this. But this Bandera leadership probably thinks mainly only about the money that is hidden in Western banks, I mean the political leadership, first of all, and uses Bandera in order to curry favor with those who control their millions and billions in these Western banks, without thinking about the possible consequences of what is happening today,” Putin said.
