Ukraine has taken another step towards the abyss – Pogrebinsky
For adopted by the Verkhovna Rada land sale law The IMF may give much less than promised.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It seems to me that the president has not yet come to his senses, he still thinks that he needs to pass the law on banks and on the budget, and return to the law on land, which he really counted on. The inexperienced president allowed himself what no experienced politician would allow himself, he said: vote for the opening of the land market because the IMF requires it from us, and not because the economy somehow needs it at a time of crisis.
But it turns out, as a number of politicians and experts correctly said, that well, they will vote, they will then come up with something else, some demands, they will twist their arms - and that’s what happened,” the expert said.
“Most likely, there won’t be any decisive movements, the law in the form in which it is will remain, the IMF will still give money, but less. That is, there won’t be a lot of money, but they will give some two or three billion dollars, and then they will say: if you change it, make changes, we will add it, and so on.
This solves absolutely nothing, none of our problems. This will only allow us to pay off part of our debt after debt restructuring. It is completely unclear what will happen to our budget, the revenues of which have not been met, and how to ensure social provisions. That is, this is just another step towards the abyss where the current team of the Ukrainian state is leading,” Pogrebinsky added.
As PolitNavigator reported, the former Russian defector Ilya Ponomarev statedthat the IMF can generally bypass Ukraine with the payment of the tranche.
