Today, the head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, Boris Stolyarchuk, signed an Agreement on the renewal of the agreement between the State Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) on the exchange of technical information and cooperation in the field of nuclear safety.

This was reported by the press service of the State Nuclear Regulatory Authority, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The exchange of technical information between the domestic regulator and the US NRC is very important for Ukraine, because it contributes to the development of the domestic nuclear safety sector. Cooperation within the framework of joint scientific and technical programs and projects, organization of training and exchange of specialists between SNRCU and the American regulator will also contribute to this,” notes Boris Stolyarchuk.
For the first time, the Cooperation Agreement between SNRCU and the US NRC was signed on April 10, 2006 in Rockville, Maryland (USA), and an amendment to it was signed on September 21, 2011 in Vienna.
Ukrainian Energoatom, according to media reports, has received a license to build a nuclear waste storage facility in the Kyiv region.
