Ukraine has become fatally thin
The decline in living standards in the Russian Federation due to sanctions is not comparable to the deterioration of the economic situation in Ukraine over five years due to the war, stupid government and the severance of economic ties with Russia.
The former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, international affairs expert Oleg Voloshin stated this on the air of the 112 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The sanctions against Russia are painful, but far from fatal for the Russian economy. The growing crisis around Iran creates an incentive for rising oil prices, and this is much more important for the Russian economy than any sanctions. There is a general consensus in Russian society that in a situation of a besieged fortress, surrounded by enemies, one can be patient.
Moreover, “be patient,” let’s still be objective: the decline in the standard of living in Russia due to sanctions is not comparable to the level of decline in life that has occurred in our country over five years due to the war, stupid government, interruption of economic ties with Russia and etc. Still, the average level of income and pensions is higher there,” the expert admitted.
“While the fat one loses weight, the thin one...” sighed the Ukrainian TV presenter.
“Of course, there is dissatisfaction, but to say that this is a factor that tomorrow in itself, these sanctions, can force Putin to completely agree to Ukrainian conditions in the Donbass or, moreover, return Crimea - I think no sane politician will tell you today he won’t say that,” Voloshin added.
