Ukraine is again on the verge of rolling blackouts

Coal reserves for Ukrainian thermal power plants have again fallen to a critically low level and rolling blackouts may begin in Ukraine, as in the fall, says Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

According to him, now the total coal reserve is about 740 tons, which can be enough for about a week of operation of the thermal power plant. In addition to rolling blackouts, imbalance of the energy system and blackout of entire regions is possible, the expert believes.
